Improving the Lives of Veterans One Research Study at a Time
Smarter Heart Health for Women Veterans
DVARC supports groundbreaking research that directly improves the lives of Veterans. One of our many success stories is the first heart risk calculator built for women Veterans developed in collaboration with VA North Texas Researchers. The VA Women CVD Risk Score – developed by Dr. Haekyung “Hattie” Jeon-Slaughter and her team at VA North Texas – is revolutionizing how we assess heart health in female Veterans. Built using real health data from women Veterans, this tool offers personalized cardiovascular risk assessments that reflect their unique experiences, including depression, combat exposure, and multiple deployments. It’s one way we are advancing tailored care for those who served. The tool is available to the public and is available at vawomencvdriskcalculator.org.
